"We’ve all certainly been getting to know our co-habitants better and better in these weird times. Whether or not that’s a good thing for you depends on plenty of variants, but Chicago-based Carrie and Matt Wagner found the pleasure in staying home way before any of this started. 'Microwave S'mores'... is tailor-made for your next wistful stare out the window. The dreamy track ebbs and flows between lilting guitars and ethereal vocals up to bursts of heavy shoegaze-style TV static making for a delightfully mind-bending listening experience." - Impose Magazine
~~~~~
Sometime in 2019, we wrote this song about not wanting to go out and wanting to just stay indoors. When shelter-in-place was announced, we thought it would be the perfect song to release, so we finished recording it while quarantined in March and April. Of course, many of us are desperately wanting to go outside these days, but this song might help some remember all the times they wished they’d had an excuse to stay in and not go out.
All proceeds from the track will be donated to the MusicCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund.
lyrics
I'm not having fun
I want to get out of the sun
Tonight we can stay indoors
We can make microwave s'mores
I don't want to make any plans
Please don't make me go out tonight
I don't feel up to dance
I just want to turn out the lights
Shoegaze ist die Kunst des Dröhnens, doch „Everything Is Alive“ setzt diese Elemente nur sparsam ein. Statt Hall- und Zerr-Sounds aufzutürmen, schäumt die Musik in feinen Bläschen über.
On their latest LP, the Austin group peel away the synth and distortion to highlight the jangly melodies at the core of their songs. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 9, 2022
Entirely analog, lush melodic pop with a tender heart from L.A. artist Human Barbie sounds bigger than the bedroom project it is. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 22, 2020
A beguiling brew of early Lush, a punchier Velocity Girl, the sadly forgotten, Sleeper, Slumberland Records bands and their own brand of punky-catchy enchantment. Great stuff! brantly
